DeleteHIV is a very sensitive type of Virus that once it is out of our body and is exposed to the open environment it dies within seconds.
I commend you for having the strength to getting tested for HIV.
The WINDOW PERIOD is simply the first day of the successful entry of the virus into your system until 3months. Within this period you are already able to pass it on to other persons. However if you get tested within the WINDOW PERIOD it may present a FALSE NEGATIVE result, meaning the the antibody produced by your immune system against the virus is not yet sufficient to be detected by the HIV ANTIBODY TEST.
It is best for you to be re-tested if you are within the window period.
HIV has NO SPECIFIC SIGNS and SYMPTOMS. Anybody can have fever, sore throat and other flu like symptoms but it does not imply that it is HIV Infection. HIV destroys your immune system specifically the CD4 cells which is the brain of your immune system. Once your immune system is low Opportunistic Infections start to invade your body and depending on the infection, it's their signs and symptoms that will appear.
The best way is to get tested for HIV as early as possible after the WINDOW PERIOD.
I don't know the services of PGH but I did post their contact number. better check it and call them if you want to know their services.

ReplyDeleteLast February 24,2013, nagkakasakit po ako...I thought it was only an ordinary tonsilitis, diarrhea and fever....so , binaliwala ko lang ito...Pero napansin ko ngayon, i loss weight...namamayat ako...that's why i search in google the symptoms of HIV....at dito ko nalaman na yong mga symptoms ay naranasan ko na...that's why I considered myself as HIV+ kahit hindi pa ako nag pa test...mahihiya kasi ako pag may nakaalam na + ako....Jake please advise me what to do....im very worried about my situation now....
ReplyDeleteThe best advise that I can give is GET TESTED. Don't let fear consume you. Once you are diagnosed then there are support groups, treatment hubs and groups who are willing to extend their help to you but you need to do STEP 1 first and that is to get tested for HIV. I can only guarantee that the Social Hygiene Clinics provide the FREE HIV Testing along with other Sexually Transmitted Infections. They don't offer FREE Blood Chemistry etc...

Iba-iba po kasi ang Policy per Treatment Hub pero dito sa amin sa Iloilo as long as you pay your Philhealth contribution you are entitled for FREE ARV, Laboratories, Check-up, Room Admission, etc... I advise that you tell them the TRUTH kasi once you would undergo treatment your name will be matched to your Philhealth account and if it is not tha same then there would really be a problem. You are assured naman that the information that you will provide in the form is confidential naman diba?
My advise is to inform your counselor first of what you did and they will advise you on what to do. Baka magadvise sila na magretest ka ulit but this time please make it right. Bad news is you will have to wait for a month again bago mo maclaim yung confirmatory result mo... See it is a domino effect.

What kind of STD are you referring to? There are a lot of Sexually Transmitted Infections and they have overlapping signs and symptoms. there are also STD's that can be CURED and others DONT HAVE CURE like HIV. When we are talking about VACCINE it is usually given before you have the STD since it is more on PROPHYLAXIS.

I have not undergone an HIV nor HPV Test yet but I will soon next week. Is the hub only for those who are HIV + or is it also for those who have been diagnosed with STD, regardless of the type of STD the person has?
I have anal warts and I had it checked yesterday with a private doctor and I was advised to undergo a cauterization of warts next week to have it removed. I thought what I have is just a normal skin tag or warts that are benign. Yesterday, when checked my doctor told me that I got this because of STD. I mistakenly thought it as an HIV. I clarified it with my doc and said that HIV and Genital/Anal warts are two different types of STD. To be honest, I'm really scared. I am praying and hoping that it's not HIV nor HPV coz as what I've heard it's for lifetime unlike normal case like genital or anal warts can be cured.

Hi jake, I just would like to say I already had the courage to start my arvs after 6 months from being diagnosed with hiv. i started last december 3. im on lami+zido and nev. it's december 8 today at around 1am. so far no rashes. but i kinda feel sick at times my stomach gets kinda sore and i lose appetite and get nauseous(but manageable).however, just this weekend from december 6-7 i had a roadtrip with friends it took as about 2 hours ride(one way) to and from our destination. and it felt like hell i felt so sick to my stomach(car sickness), it felt like the worst feeling. and i even took a dose of bonamine which had no effect at all. I was with nausea the whole time and something wrong with my stomach I also had frequent burping sessions(gas mostly) and no vomitting though(i tried not to vomit). i also tried to eat and all, but to no avail. was that normal? since im still on my 3rd to 4th day? is this a normal side effect maybe because my body is still adjusting to the arvs?? and because going to that road trip was still too much since i am starting on these meds?. or should i be worried? but when im just at home i feel a little nasuesous and a little sore stomach but to a manageable extent. i want to know if this is normal?
ReplyDeleteanother problem is when i came home from the trip i was again feeling sick (no fever) just the aweful car sickness thing (even if i took bonamine which had no effect at all)and it was really a two hour-hell ride again. as i arrived home, i fell asleep rightaway , knocked out to recover from tha tremendous car sickness i just felt. and because of that i ALMOST MISSED the next dose(nev, lam+zido) instead I took it ONE AND A HALF HOUR LATE. supposedly 10pm but i took it at 1130pm. i overslept because i was really exhausted from the aweful carsickness i experienced. is that okay or should i be worried? i know i promise to be more cautious next time and not to do it again. but the damage has been done. i just hope it did not cause too much of a damage though, im so scared of being immune to this just because of being late for one and a half hour. haist. im so worried. I am really determined with the adherence thing, but sometimes things like this happen. should i be worried since it is only my 4rth day and i got late for 1&a half hour for my PM meds? please help me. theres no one i could run to or ask about these questions because i am being really discreet. your help would be very much appreciated, thank you so much!
